New dates for planned water disruption to Mamre and parts of Atlantis

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department will be performing a test-shutdown of water supply to Mamre and parts of Atlantis on Monday, 17 May 2021 from 09:00 until 17:00. The City needs to ensure this can be done successfully, in preparation for critical planned maintenance taking place from Friday, 21 May 2021 until Saturday, 22 May 2021.

The test-shutdown, originally planned for Friday, 14 May 2021 has been postponed to Monday, 17 May 2021, from 09:00 until 17:00.  The test will be conducted on the 600mm and 300mm Pella bulk water pipelines.

The test-shutdown will help to ensure that the repair of a leaking coupling and the replacement of a faulty isolation valve can be successfully addressed.  The repairs to this pipeline are planned for Friday, 21 May 2021 at 18:00 until Saturday, 22 May 2021 at midnight. 

Areas affected by the shut down and maintenance work will be Mamre, Saxonsea, Robinvale, Avondale and Protea Park.

Residents can expect a reduction in the water pressure or the possible disruption to their water supply. 

Residents are advised to store water in clean, sealed containers in advance and to ensure that their taps are left in the closed position during this period to prevent any water loss and/or water damage when the supply is restored.  A water tanker will be on standby in the area to provide water, where required, for domestic use.

The City regrets any inconvenience caused, however, this maintenance will help reduce and prevent water wastage.
